Activity during World War Two :

According to the citation, Staff Sergeant Peter G. Krebs received the Bronze Star "for heroic achievement against the enemy on 18 November 1944. When his platoon was being held up by machine gun fire from a bridge he boldly left his covered position and, firing an automatic rifle with devastating accuracy, wounded on of the enemy and drove the other back. The Platoon was then free to continue advancing towrard its objective." He was later mortally wounded on 1 December 1944 while leading his squad in an attack.
