23 June 1945 General Order 117 (1945) Silver Star and a Purple Heart are awarded to: Pfc. Ewin L. Reese Ninth Army 95th Division 377th Infantry, Company G for gallantry in action on 1 April 1945 in the vicinity of Lamerhagen, Germany. When a task force of tanks and an infantry regiment to which e belonged to, was halted by devastating panzerfaust fire. Private Reese and five comrades went to reconnoiter and eliminate the panzerfausts. Coming upon the enemy on high ground, Private Reese participated in a bold assault which destroyed the position and enabled the tanks to resume their advance. Seven Germans were killed by Private Reese and his comrades and fourteen bazookas were captured.

Campagnes : Rhineland, Ardennes-Alsace, Central Europe.
